About Our Club

The Montrose Football Club is located at the start of the Mount Dandenong Tourist road, the gateway to the Mount Dandenong Ranges acting as a truly spectacular backdrop for both players and supporters to enjoy.

The newly completed KEN DOWLING PAVILLION will compliment our newly surfaced playing ovals in making the club's facilities the envy of most local football clubs and providing a great place to play and socialise.

The Montrose Football Club is a leading community based sporting organisation with a proud history of supporting and developing our youth, indeed having one of the highest proportions of senior players who have come through from our junior development programs.

We provide a vital role in developing and maintaining the identity of the region and are currently involved in a number of community partnerships including;

  • Hosting the Fida Disability Clinics with the Federation of Intellectually Disabled Athletes and the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
  • A partner in the Montrose Recreation reserve Development with the Shire Of Yarra Ranges and eight other community groups.
  • Allied with the Montrose Auskick Program Providing Training venues and hosting showcase games.
  • Representation within the Montrose Township Group in relation to planning and development issues.
  • Founding member of the Ladies of the East- An Eastern Football League Sponsored group to encourage and promote woman into executive positions in football administration.

As a member club of the Eastern Football League (E.F.L.), widely regarded as one of the strongest metropolitan leagues in Australia, we have approximately 300 registered players represented by our three senior teams (Firsts, Reserves and Under 18s) and eight junior teams. The club places a huge emphasis on our junior development program and we continually strive to improve our youth as both players and more importantly as people with a focus on education, discipline and a team work ethic. As members of the Good Sports program we continue to educate families, members and officials on the appropriate treatment of alcohol in a sporting club environment.

The Junior section of the club measures its success on its contribution to its local community. We are here to provide junior players with an enjoyable place to play local football, but also with the aim of providing quality players of the future for the senior section of the club. Premierships, particularly at lower age levels, are regarded as secondary to participation and improvement of individuals as players and as people. We also believe that it is important to provide football at the highest level possible and to that end do not believe in placing a team in a lower grade just with the aim of winning a premiership. In this context we do not seek to offer inducements to players from other teams to come to play with us (a trend that has unfortunately emerged over time with some junior clubs). The role of non-competitive teams (U9-U11 teams) is critical in developing skills and a love for the game. Therefore we ask coaches of these teams to ensure that players are given roughly equal game time and played in a variety of positions on the field
