Round 7 Sat 30th May 2009
Leading All Day Only To Be Over Run
Bayswater
11-14-80
V
to
Montrose
8-9-57
Unfortunately this was a game that we could have won. Leading at all the breaks the team held just a
one point margin at ¾ time but, like the Colts, we were overrun in the final term. However, given the
circumstances of the morning, and the changes made to the team at late notice, the game was fought
out bravely and Coach Scott Granville was very proud of the manner in which the boys fought the game
out. Among the best were Keiran Rutley, Liistro and Langdon with Kruse kicking 3 goals and Wagga 2.
Best players: Liistro, Langdon, Rutley
Goals: Kruse 3, Wagga 2
Round 6 Sat 23rd May 2009
Another Dissappointing Loss
Montrose
10-10-70
V
to
South Croydon
16-11-107
Another important game and one which we needed to win after a few losses in a row. We were behind
at all the changes but managed to peg them back with an even last quarter and eventually went down by
6 goals Consistency continues to be a problem which we will need to improve if we are to become more
competitive in future games. Best players included Jake Motteram, Sean Atkinson, Jamie Yeomans,
Tom Bailey and Studdy. Studdy and Wagga both kicked 3 for the day.
Best players: Motteram, Atkinson, Yeomans, Bailey, Studdy

Waverley Blues
12-14-86
V
to
Montrose
12-10-82
The Reserves will be rueing this as a game they could have and should have won. After holding a
substantial lead at ¾ time we only kicked 1 goal to the opppositions’ 6 in the last quarter and
unfortunately missed an opportunity to move into the 4. Better players were Luke Kennelly, Rohan
Williamson, Dave Kruse and Tom Bailey. Matt Langdon contributed 4 goals, Seb 3 and Bobby 2.
Best players: Kennelly, Williamson, Kruse, Bailey
Goals: Langdon 4, Seb 3, Bobby 2
Round 4 Sat 9th May 2009
Slow Start Costs Ressies
Montrose
12-11-83
V
to
Mulgrave
15-12-102
The Reserves were hurt by a slow start which left them chasing their opponents all day. As with
the Senior side only performing for 2 or 3 quarters will always cost
you in second division where sides are often so evenly matched. Better players on the day were
Hendo, Bailey, Wood and new player Keiran Rutley. Jake Powell again led from the front with a
terrific BOG performance.
Best players: Powell, Hendo, Bailey, Wood, Rutley
Goals: Gordon 3, Kruse 2, Hodgson 2, Seb 2
Round 3 Sat 2 May 2009
Great Team Effort By Ressies
Donvale
7-14-56
V
to
Montrose
17-18-120
The Ressies built on their narrow win in the previous round with a great team effort
to run out comfortable winners. Hendo lead the way all day in the ruck and was
ably supported down back by Matt Lowe and Jamie Yeomans. Coach Scott Granville was delighted with the
contributions of the entire team and particularly mentioned the efforts of new player Jarrod Rutley. Wagga
shone again in those green boots with 6 majors and Sebby and Crouchy both chipped in with 4 apiece.
Best players: PLAYERS
Goals: Wagga 6, Sebby 4, Crouchy 4

Leading at every break the Reserves played solid footy and posted a win to celebrate Wagga’s 200th game.
Looking resplendent in the bright green boots the man himself came away with 6
majors – and didn’t he celebrate every one of them! Other goal kickers were Bobby
with 2 and a number of singles.

Round 1 Sat 18 April 2009
Season Opener
Rowville
17.12.114
V
to
Montrose
15.16.106
Scott 'Pooch' Granville picks up the Reserves. Scott is a great leader and a fantastic influence for our
young group. We look forward to a successful year from Scott and his team.
In a very tight game which could have gone either way, the Ressies went down by 8 points . In his 1st
game as Ressies coach, “Pooch” was pleased with boys’ commitment against a strong Rowville side
but a poor 2nd quarter ultimately hurt the side. An 8 goal haul from Ross Crouch up forward was a real
highlight along with strong performances from new Skipper Jake Powell, Zac Rogers, Adam Ewart &
Seb Colakidis.
Best players: Crouch, Powell, Rogers, Ewart, Colakidis
Goals: Crouch 6
